Set the tone for the day.
Before you start your day, try these five positive ways to start your day.
1. Avoid using your phone when you first wake up.
When you first arise, you’ll automatically check your phone for messages or emails or go on social media. The first 30 minutes to an hour should be dedicated to you, even if it means waking up an extra 30 minutes earlier than usual.
Listen to your favourite song/music/or a motivational video/podcast.
Get your brain stimulated with something that’ll get you into that motivated mindset and have you feeling great about yourself and your day. This way, you’ve set out how you’d like your day to begin rather than just leaving it up to what the day brings.
2. Meditate
Meditation is best done first thing upon awakening because your mind is still in that ‘alpha stage’. This is a state of relaxed wakefulness, where your brain waves are slower and more synchronized. In this state, you’ll have less mental chatter and be in a relaxed, calm, sleepy stage. This is when your mind is most receptive to new information, making it an ideal time for meditation.
What happens next can set you upright for the rest of the day, so 10 minutes of meditation is enough. Try using a guided meditation, for it’ll help you stay focused and not drift off back to sleep.
You can find many on YouTube.
3. Keep a Journal
Using a journal can help you write bullet points outlining priorities for the day.
This can help you stop overthinking and remember what essential tasks you have to do throughout the day because you will have them written out for you to look back on—in return, causing less stress and more organization.
4. Read aloud your list of affirmations to yourself in the mirror.
Recite your affirmations to yourself in the mirror. This practice not only boosts your confidence and self-worth but also helps reframe any negative self-talk you may have. The choice of affirmations depends on your personal goals and aspirations, reflecting the areas of your life where you want to see positive changes.
Here are some examples:
Work-related
“I am great at coming up with new ideas to improve our business.”
“All of my ideas get noticed, and I am receiving the recognition I deserve”.
Health-related:
“Every day, my health is improving”
“I am able to exercise for more extended periods without getting tired too early”.
Always speak in past text and use I am or I have
Relationship Related:
“I now have more fun time to spend with my family”.
“I have a healthy relationship with my partner”.
5. Gratitude
Be grateful for the things you have in your life now more so than the lack of the things you don’t have. Write out a list of 3 things you’re grateful for; it could be the roof over your head, your excellent health, or the food you have in your fridge. Say it from the heart and feel grateful for it.
#Tip: If you find this hard, first start to imagine what it would feel like if you weren’t sure of how you’d get your next meal. Feel that emotion, how unpleasant it made you feel.
Now, focus on feeling grateful for the food in your fridge today and the joy of choosing what meal to cook. This is the power of gratitude. When practised with genuine emotions, it can transform your entire energy and frequency to match a higher vibration. That there is the power of our minds.
